The expectation that the reduction in student fees will attract at least 2 thousand new students to the buses, expressed the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis.

In statements in Limassol, after a presentation on Thursday of the design of the bus lanes on Nikos and Despina Pattichi avenues and on the occasion of the start of the new school year, Mr. Vafeadis stated that the announcement by the President of the Republic to reduce the fare from 80 euros to 30 euros a year, it was done in an attempt to increase the number of 18 thousand students who currently use the school buses.

Our goal, he continued, is to attract at least 2 thousand students and "if we manage to remove 500 cars from Limassol and 500 from Nicosia, it means that these two cities, which suffer from traffic, will have a noticeable reduction" .

"They won't bring 500 cars in the spring, but it's a start and a measure that will help in the effort to decongest the road," he added.
