An unbelievable statement was made today by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Gildirim, who said that the Turkish Coast Guard lowered the Greek flag from a Turkish islet, according to the Hurriyet newspaper.
In a speech today, Gildirim referred to Greece and in fact to the actions to cause tension: "We are aware of some actions of our neighbor Greece, which causes the increase of tension, from time to time in the Aegean. Increases in these tensions have multiplied recently, especially in property issues. Again we see actions similar to those that take place in Kartak (s.s. Imia) and again on the island of Didim, an attempt was made to bring a Greek flag into uninhabited territory. The Coast Guard intervened with the appropriate actions and lowered the flag from there ".
According to the Turkish newspaper, Gildirim, referring to the islands of Didim, referred to two islets, located east of Farmakonisi, off the city of Didim, in the province of Aydin.
