Fifteen hotels are expected to accommodate passengers of flights diverted to Paphos due to developments in the region with the attack launched by Israel against targets in Iran, according to the President of the Paphos Hoteliers Association, Euripides Loizides.
Mr. Loizides told CNA that so far it appears that around ten aircraft have been diverted, coming from Italy and other European countries as well as America, and were heading to Israel, and are now forced to land at Paphos airport.
He stated that all hoteliers have been informed and have informed the Paphos Hoteliers Association about the availability in their hotels, adding that the Deputy Ministry of Tourism is subsequently informed. Our goal, he continued, is immediate service, so that people do not gather at the airport for understandable reasons.
Mr. Loizides noted that so far 15 hotel units are expected to accommodate people who will be forced to remain in Paphos due to the chaotic situation and from Sunday 25 hotel units. In addition, the President of the Paphos Hoteliers Association stated that everyone is trying to help with this situation.
He pointed out that many passengers find accommodation on their own in hotel units or even Airbnb-type accommodations.
He finally said that the Paphos Hoteliers Association is on alert because other flights are expected.
