Forest fire under full control in the Municipality of Sotira near the state forest "Agios Nikandros"
The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 12:00, a fire broke out in an area of the Municipality of Sotiras, near the state forest "Agios Nikandros".
The fire was brought under full control at 13:45 after it burned 1,2 hectares with bushes, low wild vegetation and deforestation on both sides of the Larnaca-Ayia Napa highway.
7 men of the Forest Department with 2 fire trucks, 5 men of the Fire Service with 3 fire trucks, as well as a tanker of the Municipality of Ayia Napa attempted to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters remain in the area to deal with possible fires.
The exact causes of the fire are being investigated.
