The bill on lambratzes will be brought to the Plenary within 15 days, after it was examined in an article-by-article debate on Wednesday in the Legal Affairs Committee.
In a letter sent to the Legal Committee, the Director of the Archbishop's Office said that the Archbishop agrees with the bill.
In statements after the conclusion of the article-by-article debate, the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Marios Hartsiotis, who participated in the debate, said that "finally, after many difficulties and concerns, the bill on lambratties is being brought to the Plenary."
He added that "I hope that it will be voted on by the majority of Parliament, so that it can be implemented from the next Easter in 2026."
In his statements, DISY MP Nikos Georgiou said that "there is a positive outcome. The Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus agrees with the proposed bill and has no objections and without asterisks or any footnotes. Hopefully, in 15 days it will be brought before the Plenary for a vote."
