An annual increase of 3,1% was recorded in tourism receipts in the first five months of the year, however a slight decrease was observed in May.
According to the Statistical Service, based on the results of the Travelers Survey, tourism revenues in May 2024 amounted to €310,5 million, showing a decrease of only 0,2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (€311,0 .XNUMX cm).
For the period January – May 2024, tourism revenues are estimated at €751,2 million compared to €728,6 million in the corresponding period of 2023, marking an increase of 3,1%.
The per capita expenditure of tourists in May 2024 amounts to €736,82 compared to €740,36 in May 2023, marking a decrease of 0,5%.
British tourists, the largest tourist market with 39,8% of all tourists in May 2024, spent an average of €83,18 per day. Israeli tourists, the second largest tourist market during the month at 7,9% of the total, spent an average of €161,66.
Also, tourists from Poland, the third largest market with 7,6%, spent €86,40 per day.
