Tourist arrivals in May recorded an annual increase of 13,7%. As reported by the Statistical Service, tourist arrivals in May 2025 amounted to 479.160 compared to 421.400 in May 2024, recording an increase of 13,7%.
For the period January – May 2025, tourist arrivals reached 1.344.486 compared to 1.170.214 in the corresponding period of 2024, an increase of 14,9%.
Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for May 2025, accounting for 37,4% (179.150) of total arrivals, arrivals from Israel 9,4% (45.249), arrivals from Poland 7,7% (36.800), arrivals from Germany 6,2% (29.938), arrivals from Sweden 4,8% (22.924) and arrivals from Greece 3,7% (17.591).
The purpose of travel in May 2025 was for 81,2% of tourists the holidays, for 11,1% the visit to friends or relatives and for 7,6% business. Respectively, for May 2024, 83,7% visited Cyprus for holidays, 9,8% for visiting friends or relatives and 6,3% for business reasons.
Returns of Cyprus Residents
Trips by Cypriot residents abroad in May 2025 amounted to 143.296 compared to 144.042 in May 2024, recording a decrease of 0,5%.
The main countries from which Cypriot residents returned in May 2025 were Greece with 28,3% (40.494), the United Kingdom with 8,1% (11.555) and Italy with 7,1% (10.202).
The purpose of travel of Cypriot residents in May 2025 was mainly holidays with a percentage of 66,9%, while professional reasons accounted for 29,7%, studies for 2,3% and other reasons for 1,1%.
