January-July 2023: Tourism revenues increased by 26,9%

Revenues from tourism for the period January-July 26,9 have increased by 2023%, compared to the corresponding period of 2022, according to the results of the Traveler Survey published by the Statistical Service on Tuesday.

In all months of 2023, tourism revenue was higher than the corresponding months of 2022.

Specifically, tourism revenues for the period January – July 2023 are estimated at €1.544,7 million compared to €1.217,4 million in the corresponding period of 2022.

In July 2023 alone, revenues amounted to €454,6 million compared to €381,7 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, marking an increase of 19,1%.

Cost analysis

According to the Statistical Service, the per capita expenditure of tourists in July 2023 amounts to €867,96 compared to €839,50 in July 2022, marking an increase of 3,4%. The largest expenditure per capita was made by tourists from the Netherlands, with €1.165,20, while the smallest was made by tourists from Greece, with €380,56.

British tourists (the largest tourist market with 33,6% of all tourists in July 2023) spent an average of €94,23 per day, while Israeli tourists (the second largest tourist market during the given month with 12,4% of the total) spent an average of €135,44.

Tourists from Poland (third largest market with 5,5%), spent €78,66 per day.

The largest daily expenditure was made by tourists from Lebanon, with €162,52, but having the fewest days of stay (5,8). On the contrary, tourists from Greece made the smallest daily expenditure, with €35,90, but having one of the longest average durations of stay (10,6 days).

Total arrivals in July 2023 reached 523.718, while in July 2022 they were 454.657.
