A report by the Daily Telegraph focuses on Cyprus as a potential destination for the British, in the middle of a war in the Middle East, for the week of the school holidays at the end of October.

The report says some hotels on the island are receiving phone calls from British people who have booked and are worried about whether the country is being affected by the war in the Middle East. Despite this, British visitors to the island state that they feel "absolutely safe".

As noted, “with its warm, sunny days at this time of year, Cyprus is a consistently popular destination when it comes to autumn holidays. This year, however, some are hesitant to come to the island because of the situation in the Middle East."

The publication points to the geographical proximity of Cyprus to the area of conflict, as well as an old report by Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah about retaliation against Cyprus if it allowed the use of the Bases by Israel.

However, it is emphasized that the role of Cyprus in the war concerns the humanitarian aspect, i.e. it is a destination for some of those who leave Lebanon, as well as that the travel recommendation of the Foreign Office characterizes Cyprus as a safe destination.

A British couple on holiday in Paphos told the newspaper: "We haven't seen or heard anything to make us feel unsafe here." Friends of the couple also state that they feel "absolutely comfortable and safe" on the island, despite small misgivings before their trip.

Locals say they feel just as safe, the British publication reports, adding that despite some worried phone calls to hotels, there have been no recorded cancellations due to the war.
