The British are leaving Cyprus in a hurry to avoid forced self-isolation for 14 days for travelers flying from Cyprus to the country, a measure imposed by the UK government and coming into force tomorrow Sunday.

According to information from KYPE, many Britons are looking for flights to return to their country, since last Thursday, when the Minister of Transport announced the mandatory self-isolation, due to increased cases of coronavirus in Cyprus.

It is reminded that the measure for mandatory two-week quarantine for those traveling from Cyprus to the United Kingdom, comes into force from 4 am on Sunday local time, ie 6 am Cyprus time.

Eight arrivals from the United Kingdom to Larnaca Airport will take place today, while 20 flights will land at Paphos Airport.

There will be eight departures from Larnaca Airport to various British airports, with 1659 passengers. There will also be 20 departures from Paphos Airport to Britain.

It is noted that in recent days 50% of passenger traffic to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports concerns flights to and from Britain.

Meanwhile, information from Hermes Airports states that since yesterday there is a lot of mobility from the airlines in order to transport passengers back to Britain before the dawn of Sunday when the quarantine measure is implemented for those returning from Cyprus.

A total of six airlines will operate today and tomorrow flights with British to and from the airports of Cyprus. These are British Airways, Easy jet, Wizz, Ryan Air, Jet 2 and Tui, which had announced that at the beginning of November it would stop the air connection of Cyprus with the United Kingdom.

Moreover, information from KYPE states that the Cypriot authorities took action and contacted the United Kingdom, in an attempt to re-evaluate the epidemiological picture of Cyprus within about two weeks.

According to data from Hermes Airports, from October 26 until tomorrow, Sunday, November 1, to and from Cyprus, to and from the United Kingdom, a total of 91 flights were operated from Larnaca, ie 41 arrivals and 50 departures.

A total of 113 flights were operated from Paphos Airport during the same period, ie 55 arrivals and 58 departures.

A total of 204 flights, 96 arrivals and 108 departures were operated from the two airports of Larnaca and Paphos.

Also in August, when the United Kingdom was included in the C-category by the Cypriot government in terms of the epidemiological picture, a total of 74,521 passengers were transported to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports. Specifically we had 44,634 arrivals and 29,887 departures.

In September, a total of 116,621 passengers were also transported to and from the airports of Cyprus, ie 54,990 arrivals and 61,631 departures.

From October 1st to October 29th, 117,114 passengers were handled, ie 59,923 arrivals and 57,191 departures.
