The year 2024 is now rightfully established as a reference year for the tourism of our country, after the double specified record in arrivals and revenues, emphasizes the Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis, commenting on the revenues from tourism for September announced on Friday by the Statistical Service.
"We are quite satisfied with the revenue results for the January-September period, just as we are also satisfied with the arrivals results, a period for which we have statistical measurements until the end of October," says Mr. Koumis, in his written statement.
He states that "the numbers now demonstrate with certainty that our country's tourism has not only returned, but has consolidated its high performance in the past, despite the many challenges we had to manage during the current year".
Stating that "the numbers are not and have never been an end in themselves", the Deputy Minister of Tourism expresses satisfaction for "the conclusions drawn from the numbers, which confirm the good course of tourism".
He adds that he considers "equally important, the fact that there is no decrease in the average expenditure per capita, a phenomenon recorded in other destinations".
"We continue, now looking with optimism to 2025, and ready to manage all those challenges that characterize the tourism ecosystem", he underlines.
We continue, points out Mr. Koumis, "emphasizing the management of destinations, investing in the countryside and the hinterland, having high on our priorities the protection of the natural environment and the production of benefits for local societies".
According to an announcement by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, tourism revenues for the period January - September 2024 record an increase of 31,1% compared to the corresponding period of 2022 and 15,3% compared to the corresponding period of 2019.
The Deputy Ministry of Tourism reports that "the new measurement confirms the upward trajectory of the tourism sector in our country, the effectiveness of the decisions taken in relation to the target markets, but also the resilience of the sector as a whole".
He notes that the results of arrivals for the period January - October, which were published a few days ago, record an increase of 4,6%, compared to the corresponding period of 2023, an increase of 26,7% compared with the corresponding period of 2022 and an increase of 0,8% compared to 2019.
