The first quarter of the year recorded an increase of 7,5% compared to the previous year, Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis said in a statement.
In essence, his statements
The statistics for the first quarter of the year portend a particularly dynamic tourism year and demonstrate that tourism continues where it left off the previous year.
The first quarter of the year recorded an increase of 7,5% compared to the previous year, and it is particularly important that our main markets continue to record a steady upward trend, while it is also encouraging that other important markets, such as Sweden, the Netherlands and Romania, are recording significant growth.
The statistics recorded by the statistical service are not a surprise to us at the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. They are data that we had predicted after our meetings at the World Travel Market in November 2024 and at the ITB Berlin tourism fair in March 2025.
We continue where we left off last year, while remaining focused on other goals, which are none other than the extension of the tourist season and the promotion of new elements, which can be transformed into comparative advantages for our country.
In relation to the Easter holidays, I would say that the traffic so far has increased, as travel traffic for the first fortnight of April recorded an increase of around 15%, while at the same time we are pleased with the fact that our country's hotel industry has almost completely reopened.
