Deputy Minister of Tourism, Costas Koumis, expressed his satisfaction with the tourism statistics for October in a statement, noting that this is the first time that arrivals have exceeded half a million in October. He also emphasized that the period January-October 2025 was "the best ten months in the history of tourism in our country."
"The October statistics confirm the good progress of our country's tourism, but above all they confirm the great leap in our country's tourism in the effort to extend the tourist season, which is the passport for the complete transformation of our country into a year-round tourist destination," Mr. Koumis said in his statement.
Specifically, he adds that "it is the first time that the month of October exceeded half a million arrivals, something we had predicted and which certainly satisfies us."
Mr. Koumis notes that this is a great achievement, especially compared to previous years. Compared to last year, the increase amounts to 17,1%, and to 34,2% over a three-year horizon.
"It is important that the shoulder months, with their performance, acquire a permanent summer-like dynamic, so as to give destinations and tourism businesses the right to remain open for a longer period of time. Of course, this is up to the entrepreneurs themselves to evaluate the new data in tourism and make their decisions," he emphasizes.
Regarding the results of the ten-month period, the Minister notes that "it is, as we expected, the best ten-month period in the history of tourism in our country." Specifically, an increase of 11,1% is recorded compared to the previous year and an increase of 40,8% over a three-year period, "performances that undoubtedly satisfy us," says the Deputy Minister.
"As a government, we have worked methodically and in a coordinated manner in this direction, focusing on improving air connectivity, accompanied by targeted digital promotion actions and incentive plans focusing on special forms of tourism and the winter season. We continue, focused on the effort for sustainable tourism development," he concludes.
