The next steps for the Cyprus Maritime and Maritime Institute (CMMI) to take over the management of Larnaca Marina have been agreed, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeadis said on Friday, expressing hope that the operational plan will be completed soon.
The Minister of Transport was speaking after a meeting he had at the Ministry with the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, and the CEO of the Cyprus Maritime and Maritime Institute (CMMI), Zacharias Siokouros.
Mr. Vafeadis said that during the meeting, the next steps were discussed for the Cyprus Institute for the Sea and Shipping to take over the management of Larnaca Marina, as has already been agreed. “We have set a course, we have agreed on the next steps and we are moving towards its implementation,” he added.
Furthermore, he expressed the hope that this process will be completed very soon, "so that our commitment that the management of Larnaca Marina will be transferred to the Cyprus Institute for the Sea and Shipping can be completed."
For his part, the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, stated that a management agreement requires preliminary work and that a path towards the final implementation of the agreement must be determined.
As he said, "the positive thing is that there was an agreement on the basic parameters that will govern this management agreement and based on these decisions, an operational plan will be implemented soon, so that there will be a final conclusion on exactly how we proceed, when the management agreement will be signed and what the priorities and plans will be so that the goals we have set can be achieved."
