Artificial Intelligence vs Man 1-0

Another victory of Artificial Intelligence "at the expense" of the human presence. The reason for the AlphaGo developed by Google's DeepMind and it is a program that managed to win the first of the games of the Chinese game Go, against the champion Ke Ji.

Go is a China-based strategy board game in which the two players alternately add stones to the board, encircling the area and imprisoning their opponent's stones with the ultimate goal of protecting their own. Go is famous for its simple rules but also for the complex strategy that players must apply in order to win the game.

The strategy that players must use is considered to surpass other games such as chess. Each game ends when both players agree that there are no other moves that can be made, while the final score is made up of the size of the area controlled by each player and the number of stones he has managed to block.

Last year, AlphaGo scored a historic victory against champion Lee Se-dole, which has been described by experts as a milestone in the development of Artificial Intelligence.

Ke Ji described AlphaGo as the "god of Go players", while DeepMind co-founder Demis Hassabis thanked the player for this tough fight. "It was an exciting game and it showed how prepared Ke Ji was in view of the match," Hassabis told the British News Network after the game. "It was very interesting for us to see him use moves from previous AlphaGo games, while we wanted to see how the program manages its own strategies.

We have a huge appreciation for Ke Ji who managed to push AlphaGo to its limits ". He added that the ultimate goal of the program is its application in the fields of medicine and science.

Regarding the fight, Ke Ji stated that there were some unexpected moves that impressed him. "I was quite shocked by the fact that there were some moves that would not be made in a human game," he said, adding that AlphaGo is a "wonderful player", completely different from last year.

The second game will take place on Thursday, while the final will take place on Saturday.
