The Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, stated on Wednesday that the Government's approach regarding the debts of unions to the state cannot be changed, as so far there has been no progress, as he said, after the efforts made to resolve the issue.
Responding to a journalist's question, on the sidelines of statements at the Presidential Palace, after a meeting with members of SY.KA.LA., about whether he expects a response from unions and the issue of debts to be closed, the Minister expressed regret for the development of the issue, noting that "the Government has made a great deal of effort, both with a plan and with legislation, to facilitate this issue being finally resolved."
He added that “so far there has been no progress, therefore we cannot differentiate our approach, which is the same towards all those who owe money to the public.” In closing, he expressed the hope that “wiser thoughts will prevail and that even at the last minute there will be a response.”
