Chicken gyros

Ingredients:

For the round:

  • 1 kg boneless chicken
  • 1 large onion grated
  • 1 large grated ripe tomato
  • Grate and juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 - 4 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 sk. grated garlic
  • 2 wp mustard
  • 2 tbsp. sweet paprika
  • 2 tbsp. thyme
  • 2 tbsp. oregano
  • 1 tbsp. Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp. cumin
  • 1 kg coriander
  • Salt
  • Pepper

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 wp mustard
  • 1 tc. honey
  • 1 strong pinch of sweet paprika
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Pepper

For serving:

  • Tzatziki
  • Greek or Cypriot pies
  • Onion cut into thin slices
  • Tomatoes cut into slices
  • Fried potatoes

Execution method:

For the round:

  • Cut the chicken pieces into large thin slices and put them in a bowl.
  • Sprinkle with spices, herbs, add mustard, olive oil and lemon and mix well.
  • Let the meat marinate for at least 12 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Next, place the slices of meat on a grill in turn and take wooden or metal skewers in 3-4 places to hold the meat.
  • Place the grill in a pan so that the meat fats drip and add 1 glass of water to the pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 1 hour
  • Remove the meat from the oven and cut it into very thin pieces and serve.

For the sauce:

  • In a bowl add all the ingredients and mix well with a spoon until the mixture is homogeneous.
