Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a small pan and then mix with half a tablespoon of flour to form a liquid paste and spread inside a mold. Heat the remaining butter, sugar and syrups in a pan over medium heat and stir until all melts together. Allow to cool slightly.

Pour the mixture into a large bowl and add the eggs with the milk. Add the ginger, the rest of the flour, the salt, the cinnamon and the baking soda to the mixture and put it in the prepared form. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the cake is firm. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pan and then remove from the pan to cool completely.

To make the icing, whisk the milk and powdered sugar together. Melt the chocolate in a bowl in the microwave for 1 minute. Allow to cool slightly and then add to the milk mixture. Mix and spoon the icing over the cake.
