To prepare the syrup: Put the water, honey, sugar, cinnamon and orange slice in a saucepan and cook for about 5 minutes. Set aside.

In a bowl place the seed oil, olive oil, sugar, orange zest and juice, cinnamon, brandy, baking powder and baking soda and mix with a fork until you get a uniform mixture. Slowly and stirring add the flour until incorporated into the mixture.

Form the melomakarona and place on a greased baking sheet in a pan. Cut them with a fork and bake in a preheated oven for 25 minutes at 170 degrees.

Once the melomakarona are cooked, and once you are sure that the syrup has cooled, dip them hot for about 2 minutes (depending on how syrupy you want them or not, you can increase or decrease the time).

Place on a platter and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
