A farmer in Crete dyed his sheep red to prevent them from being stolen, watch video
A livestock farmer in Crete resorted to a controversial practice in order to protect his flock from poachers, dyeing his sheep red.
As the "Dia-SOS-te ti Messara" group reports, this particular tactic is applied as a deterrent measure, as painted animals are immediately recognizable and more difficult to sell without being identified.
According to Cretan media reports, this is a practice that has been used for several years in the region, with the aim of protecting herds from would-be livestock thieves.
