The incredible story of three brothers from Brazil, two of whom were given up for adoption in the 1980s, is moving.
Antonio Nunez was 10 years old when two of his younger siblings were given up for adoption. He was raised by his grandmother in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, and growing up he was always looking for information about his two siblings.
But in 2016, one of them, now named Jefferson Gravely, discovered the truth about his adoption after his adoptive father died. He found Antonio and together they set out to search for their younger brother.
His adopted brother was his employee for years.
According to Brazilian media, they faced many difficulties in their attempt: the adoption system did not provide answers and the only clue came from a hairdresser who mediated the adoption. She only remembered the name of the adoptive father: João. However, she revealed an important detail: that the lost brother still lived in the city as I saw him vote in the last elections.
As it turned out, their younger brother had been by Antonio's side for 10 years. It was Maicon Luciani, an employee at his company and a long-time friend.
Everything was revealed during a business trip, when Maicon accidentally mentioned that he was adopted and that his original last name was Nunes. The coincidence made Antonio freeze. Confirmation came when Maicon mentioned that a hairdresser at the bus station had mediated for his adoption. “You’re my brother, man!” Antonio exclaimed then, while Maicon was shocked.
"Life is a box full of surprises," said Antonio, moved by the unexpected development.
