The White House honored Vassilis Michailidis

TOn Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the crowded Pallas Theater in Nicosia, the Municipality of Lefkonikos, the Refugee Association "To Lefkonikos", the School Ephorate of Lefkonikos and the Alumni Association of Lefkonikos High School, celebrated its 100th anniversary with brilliance. Vassilis Michailidis, in a magnificent event under the auspices of the Minister of Defense Christoforos Fokaidis.

The event, coordinated by Dr. Irini Rodosthenous, was comprehensive in meaning and very moving with the reading of poems about our National Poet, the philologist Kyriaki Paraskeva and the descendant of Vassilis Michailidis, Michalis Ktistis.

The speech of the charismatic Philologist-Researcher Dr. Kyriakos Ioannou, on the subject of the well-structured literary work of the bard of Romanism "The 9th of July 1821 in Nicosia of Cyprus", was exceptional, gaining the absolute attention of the their warm applause.

The internationally renowned baritone Kyros Patsalidis also received a warm and prolonged applause, who performed shocking excerpts from "July 9, 1821 in Nicosia, Cyprus", accompanied by pianist Marios Ioannou, accompanied by PA Ch. Υ. under the direction of maestro Maros Mitsa and with the participation of Dr. Irini Rodosthenous, Cultural  Officer of the Municipality of Lefkonikos, which admittedly was the surprise of the night.

Η  The Mayor of Lefkonikos, Zina Lysandrou-Panagidis, in her warmest welcome, after thanking the whole world from the bottom of her heart, announced that the unveiling of a bust of the Lefkonikiatis poet outside the building of the "To Lefkoniko" Association in Larnaca will take place soon.

Short in time, in their honor, were the greetings addressed by the Minister of Defense of Lefkonia, Mr. Christoforos Fokaidis, the representative of the Most Venerable Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Archimandrite Augustinos Karras, the President of the Refugee Association "To Lefkoniko", Mr. Fokas Riris and the greetings of the Mayors of Limassol and Nea Ionia read by their representatives.

The event was honored by the presence, in addition to the Minister of Defense, the Mayors of Kyrenia, Karava, Akanthou, Kythrea, Aglantzia, Latsia, the President of the Youth Organization, Mr. Panagiotis Sentonas, the former Ministers Messrs. Dimitris Iliadis and  Andreas Filippou, Mr. Panikos Pegas, member of the Administrative Committee of the Open University, Inspectors of the Ministry of Education and Culture,  current and former inspectors and high school principals, spiritual people, ο Chairman of the Refugee Association "To Lefkoniko", Municipal Councilors, delegation of the twinned Municipalities of Nea Ionia and Mytilene, other officials and crowds.
