Amber Heard's lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, said on Thursday that the actress could not pay the $ 10 million court award awarded to her ex-husband and actor Johnny Depp because he slandered him in an article written in 2018. in the online edition of The Washington Post.
Depp won the much-maligned trial, although jurors ruled that the two stars slandered each other.
The lawyer also said that Herd's medical records had been withheld and that the actress had not had time to tell jurors that a British court had found that Depp had committed "at least 12 acts of domestic violence, including sexual abuse".
He went on to say that the great interest of social media in the case played an important role and they greatly favored Depp, discredited Herd and this affected the outcome of the trial.
The seven jurors, after meeting for 13 hours, acquitted Depp at three of the points of his lawsuit and awarded him a total of $ 15 million. The Fairfax court reduced the amount to 10.4 million.
At the same time, jurors ruled that Depp, 58, slandered Herd, to whom they awarded $ 2 million in damages.
