Dolce & Gabbana has announced that it will stop using animal fur in all its collections from this year and that it will start using ecological artificial fur.
The Italian brand announced its decision together with the animal rights organization Humane Society International.
The Milan-based fashion house is aligned with other brands, including Armani, Gucci, Prada and Moncler, following the guidelines of the Fur Free Alliance, a network of animal rights groups around the world. "The whole fashion system has an important role of social responsibility that must be promoted and encouraged. "Dolce & Gabbana is working for a more sustainable future that can not suggest the use of animal fur," said the Italian company's communications and marketing manager, Fedele Uzai. Dolce & Gabbana will use eco-friendly clothing and accessories in the future.
Italy has banned animal husbandry for fur since this year, joining a list of 20 countries that have either banned or restricted it for the past two decades.
