People who smoke unfiltered cigarettes are 40% more likely to develop lung cancer, almost twice as likely to die from lung cancer, and 30% more likely to die prematurely from any cause than those who smoke cigarettes with a filter. with a new American study.
The study, led by N. Tomas of the Department of Pulmonology at the University of South Carolina Medical School, presented at the conference of the American Society for Breastfeeding in Dallas, Texas (ATS 2019), found that smokers with light-smoked cigarettes are likely to have their own filters. Normal cigarette smokers die from lung cancer or other causes, and are less likely to quit smoking.
Another study, presented at the same medical conference, concluded that e-cigarettes can reduce the body's ability to fight off viruses, especially influenza. The same study found that regular cigarettes also appear to increase the risk of a smoker getting sick from the flu, but the increase in risk is caused by factors other than those associated with e-cigarettes.
