Everyone agrees that all of Varos was owned by EVKAF in the beginning, says EVKAF General Manager Ibrahim Bender, referring to British property titles which, he says, show that the property belongs to Abdullah Pasha, Lala Aqa Mousta and Pasha .
The "law" on waqfs and international law do not allow the transfer of an institution's property to individuals, he adds, while stating that individuals are allowed only the right to use the property.
Unfortunately, he continues, the moral dimension of the issue is sometimes forgotten while the legal dispute continues. In other words, he says, if there is a loophole in the law and it is used as an opportunity to transfer ownership of an institution to individuals, "this is in a way a crime against humanity," he said.
As he stated, the institutions operate for the benefit of humanity without discrimination on the basis of nationality or religion and can not be used for the benefit of only some individuals.
