AGIA NAPA: Zannetou saw Famagusta MPs - Important issues discussed

The Mayor of Ayia Napa had a meeting with the MPs of Famagusta (except for the AKEL MPs due to an obligation, but a meeting has been scheduled for next Friday), where various issues concerning Ayia Napa were discussed. 

Specifically, reference was made to the projects being implemented, the objectives of the Municipality, the problems created by the pandemic, as well as the issue of Local Government Reform.

"Meeting with the MPs of the Famagusta District of all Parliamentary Parties (except the AKEL MPs due to an obligation and a meeting has been scheduled for Friday 17/09) had today, Tuesday 14 September 2021, the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zanetou of EVEA Mr. Augustinos Papathomas and the Vice President of CCCI Mr. George Mavroudis where issues that have occupied Ayia Napa for a long time were discussed.
During the meeting, Mr. Zannettou first congratulated the Members of Parliament for their election to the Parliament and then informed them in detail about the projects and goals set by the Municipality to continue its development course for the benefit of both the local community and of the national economy in general.
He also stressed the need to implement a vision based on green growth, education and innovation. The focus of the discussion was the current issues of Ayia Napa due to the new conditions and adverse developments created by the coronavirus pandemic, where the Mayor of Ayia Napa stressed the need to support the business sector and workers, which has been irreparably affected as well as of the tourism product of the region through promotional actions and initiatives.
Ayia Napa pointed out Mr. Zannettou is a predominantly tourist Municipality and one of the most popular destinations in Cyprus and this was proven this year from the very first start of flights. That is why he stressed that the need for financial support of all companies in the tourism industry is imperative as well as the implementation of important projects that will contribute to the upgrading and enrichment of all services and especially our tourism product.
The meeting also discussed the issue of local government reform and analyzed the latest developments in this area. The Mayor Mr. Christos Zannettou noted that the reform must contribute to the sustainable local development, to the improvement of the daily life of the citizens and to ensure the competitive role of the Municipality.
For their part, all MPs, the President of EVEA and the Vice President of CCCI assured the Mayor of their cooperation for the benefit of the local community and agreed to coordinate actions to better promote the issues of concern to Ayia Napa and beyond. the local community of the Free Province of Famagusta. ”
