Ayia Napa: Bridge competition held for the first time

Pancyprian Bridge competition entitled "Ayia Napa Valentines Cup" was organized on Tuesday 11 February for the first time in Ayia Napa at the initiative of Mrs. Susanna Mela, Marketing CEO of the famous Ayia Napa Water World Park and organizer of the competition.

The competition, which was held in a hotel room in Ayia Napa, was attended by 38 contestants and more than fifty guests from ten countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Great Britain, Ireland, Lebanon, Greece, Russia and Cyprus). who live in all the cities of Cyprus, among them several champions in this spiritual game - sport in their countries.

The prizes were awarded to the winners by the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zannetou, who in his short greeting expressed his heartfelt thanks to the organizer, the sponsors, the participants and all those who contributed to the successful outcome of the competition.

He added that such initiatives contribute to the upgrading of the tourist product of our region and to the extension of the tourist season. Mr. Zannettou also assured that the Municipality will do its utmost to make Ayia Napa the city for the organization of big bridge games.

In her own short greeting, Ms. Suzana Mela explained that the idea for the competition began at the urging of Scandinavian tourists who have been staying in Ayia Napa for a long time and leading the two Bridge groups they founded on their own initiative.

Ms. Mela thanked the Municipality of Ayia Napa especially the Mayor for the financial and moral support, the sponsors, Ayia Napa Water World Park and Sarah Hoddle, owner of Island Homes, the participants and all those who helped run the competition. He also expressed the hope that this first competition in Ayia Napa will be the beginning for the organization of larger competitions on a more professional level.

On behalf of the Scandinavians who participated in the competition, Mrs. Lisa Asland pointed out the great love that all Scandinavians who live in the city for a long time have for Cyprus, the Cypriots and for Ayia Napa.
