With a spectacular ceremony and the Port Square being "flooded" by thousands of people, the Christmas Decoration of the Municipality of Ayia Napa was illuminated

A special, magical evening was experienced on Saturday November 20 by the thousands of local and foreign visitors who attended St. George's Square in Limanaki where they enjoyed the spectacle of the lighting ceremony of Ayia Napa which marked the beginning of the Christmas season.

The great Greek singer Giorgos Tsalikis and the Kings performed their hits and other well-known songs, stirring up the audience, while the concert was preceded by well-known Dance Groups, who presented amazing dance performances.

Accompanied by Santa Claus and the Disney mascots, the festive marathon was held along Makarios Avenue and throughout the event the Christmas Charity Bazaar of the Parents' Associations of Ayia Napa Primary School - Antonis Tsokkos and Ayia Napa Public Community Kindergarten was open. , stands with various constructions and food for sale for charity, while Santa Claus distributed various gifts to his little friends from his little house.

The Mayor of Agia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yiannis Karousos, the Priests of the Holy Church of Panagia Agia Napa and the Members of the Municipal Council, with the push of a button lit up the Christmas decorations, which cover and illuminates the Central Square of the Monastery, St. George's Square with the Christmas Village, the Manger, the Christmas Tree, central streets and the small church of St. George.

In his greeting, Mr. Zannettou emphasized that the Municipality of Agia, wanting to give this period a particularly festive character, made every possible effort, despite the difficulties, to decorate the city and organize the evening's program as impressively as possible.

The Municipality of Ayia Napa added that it is now the only destination for tourism and culture and this continued "we proved it through the crises, we didn't give up, we didn't forget, on the contrary we are implementing, upgrading our cultural services and not only that.


"All the holidays and all the events we organize are for us adults to remember and for the younger ones to learn so that our customs, our faith, our religion can be transmitted to future generations."

Finally, he thanked the people who honored the event with their presence, all the groups and organized groups that took part as well as all those who participated with the sale and preparation of products and dishes, the Cultural Officer of the Municipality Mrs. Maria Tofini Tsantila and all the staff for their efforts so that "we all enjoy this beautiful evening tonight".
