According to the Police, around 11:40 in the morning, information was received from German tourists at the Ayia Napa Police Station, according to which there was a half-submerged car in the sea area of Agioi Anargyroi of Cape Greco.
Members of the Ayia Napa Police Station, the Famagusta Police Department, the Fire Brigade and the Port Police went to the area where they located the vehicle.
A member of the Port Police dived into the sea, where he found a dead person believed to be a woman inside the vehicle.
A medical examiner was called to the area for an autopsy, while the contribution of the Fire Service and the Port Police was deemed necessary for the lifting of the vehicle.
The sunken car has a Cypriot registration number.
According to information, the unfortunate woman was declared missing yesterday by her estranged husband at a Police Station in Nicosia.
The causes of the accident are being investigated by the Ayia Napa Police Station in collaboration with the Famagusta Police Department.
