Hotels in Famagusta and Larnaca are closing for renovations

The goal of partially extending the tourist season to some extent was achieved this year. For other years, the first hotels in the provinces of Famagusta and Larnaca closed in mid or late October. This year they will close around mid-November. According to information, three luxury (four-star) hotels on the Larnaca-Dhekelia road, Palm Beach, Lordos and Sandy Beach, as well as smaller tourist accommodations in the Oroklini-Pyla area will be closed for renovation this winter.

On November 26, the Aldiana Hotel in Alamino will be closed for renovations, which is the largest hotel in a number of beds in the entire province of Larnaca. It will reopen in early March. It is noteworthy, however, that none of the major hotels in the city of Larnaca will close this winter, including the units in the Mackenzie area. This year was, perhaps, the best tourist year for the province of Larnaca in the last ten years, since until the end of October most of the units were satisfactorily full. This winter is expected to be about the same as last year, with a slight increase in overnight stays. From January to September 2017, hotels in Larnaca showed an increase in overnight stays from 3% -8% compared to the corresponding period of 2016.

22 hotels remain open in Ayia Napa

In fact, some hotels saw an increase of up to 10%. In free Famagusta, most hotels are expected to close after the first ten days of November, either for renovations, extensions or lack of reservations. In the winter, 20-22 hotels will remain open in Ayia Napa and only one in Protaras. Some hotels in Ayia Napa, however, will reopen next January to host football teams from various European countries coming to prepare. These days, winter activities programs for winter tourists staying in licensed hotel accommodation are starting in both provinces.
