The implementation of major projects such as the pioneering project of Ayia Napa Marina presupposes good cooperation, mutual understanding and the development of very close cooperation between the private and the public sector. In this context, the Ayia Napa Marina Directorate invited the Ministries of Tourism and Shipping, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, the District of Famagusta as well as the Directors of the Services involved in licensing, monitoring the construction and operation of Marinas, in order to inform completion of the emblematic project, the completion of which will substantially upgrade maritime tourism in the region and in Cyprus in general.

Welcoming the guests, the CEO of MM Makronisos Marina Ltd, Mr. Stavros Karamontanis referred to the importance of cooperation between the public and private sector for the promotion and establishment of the image of Cyprus, internationally, noting that for the development of such a scale of construction projects, It is necessary to inform the competent government services on the spot. In this way, he added, the competent state officials form the correct and complete picture of the development of the project, while at the same time it is possible to exchange views and make suggestions for the best quality of services provided, related to their responsibilities.

Presenting the course of the project, Mr. Karamontanis stated that the Ayia Napa Marina has been completed in terms of the port part and that after the pilot test in the first half, which lasted from November 2019 to May 2020, it started operating commercially. from June 1, 2020, serving yachts up to 85 meters, providing high quality services. At the same time, the construction of the residential part of the Marina is in progress, which is expected to be completed in phases by the end of 2024. The successful completion of such an ambitious and majestic project of the Ayia Napa Marina will contribute greatly to attracting a high level of tourists throughout time.

On his part, the Manager of the Marina Mr. Costas Fytiris stated that the 1st Operation Phase of the Marina with a capacity of 120 vessels, despite the crisis of the coronavirus, operated smoothly, receiving more than 100 vessels during the summer period June-Aug 20 and the indications for the next they are very encouraging. He also mentioned that Ayia Napa Marina is the only one in the Eastern Mediterranean region that has been certified with the international ISO standards regarding the protection of the marine environment, the rapid support and service of boats and visitors in all areas with modern and smart services.
