The luxury cruise ship ''Rhapsody of the Seas'' with 3,200 passengers and crew, docked on August 3, 2023 near the Marina and passengers disembarked in the Marina's dedicated cruise ship passenger lounge. All the government services and the staff of the Marina were fully organized in the area, in order to minimize the waiting time and boarding of the passengers on the buses waiting for the excursions in the area of Eleftheri Famagusta. Passengers had the opportunity to visit the sights, traditional sites and beaches of the free area of Famagusta, and of course the shopping area of the Ayia Napa Marina.
The modest welcome ceremony for the captain and the ship's officers was attended on behalf of the Ayia Napa Marina by the Director of the Marina, Mr. Costas Fitiris, as well as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Costas Koumis, and the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettos, who expressed their satisfaction for the resumption of the cruise program at the Ayia Napa Marina after painstaking efforts by the Marina Directorate and the competent State Services.
The implementation of the cruise ship arrivals program with a steady annual increase in their number at the anchorage of the Ayia Napa Marina is a main goal for the coming years. The priority is the arrival of cruise ships mainly in the months of March-April-May-October-November in order to combat the seasonality that plagues the entire province and to have life throughout the year in the Marina and in the Province in general. The Directorate of the Ayia Napa Marina makes continuous efforts, not only to make the Marina a major maritime destination in the Eastern Mediterranean, but mainly as a hub of development for the entire free area of Famagusta.
