The 37th Ayia Napa International Festival was a complete success

The 37th Ayia Napa Festival was dedicated to the late composer Mikis Theodorakis, which took place from September 23rd to 26th, after a two-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.

An announcement of the Municipality of Ayia Napa states that the pre-festivities of the Festival started on Thursday, February 23 with the volunteering event entitled "Sports for All", which is among the activities organized by the Cyprus Sports Organization in collaboration with the Municipality of Ayia Napa for 5th consecutive year. The event took place in the context of the European Sports Week #BeActive, with the aim of promoting sports and culture ".

Mayor Christos Zannettou stated that "despite the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic, the Municipality of Ayia Napa continues tirelessly, with optimism, zeal and excessive love for the place to organize small and large-scale cultural events. "No one will be able to change our traditions, because only in this way will the older ones remember and the younger ones learn" since, as he explained, "a people who forgets its past has no future. "In order to have a homeland, we must keep alive the memory of our tradition, our manners and customs, our history," he said.

The 37th International Festival officially opened its gates on Friday, September 24 with Greek traditional dances and the concert "Ship adorned" in which well-known artists sang songs by great Greek composers, traveling the world musically in Cyprus and Crete.

On Saturday, September 25, the big concert took place - a tribute to the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis entitled "Beautiful City - Ayia Napa".

According to the announcement, the curtain fell on the Festival on Sunday, September 26, when the 38th Ayia Napa International Festival was announced, while all the protection measures and protocols of the Ministry of Health were observed throughout the events.
