The Municipality of Ayia Napa was awarded the Green Flag for its two unique Parks – the International Sculpture Park and the MUSAN Underwater Park

With two green flags in the "Culture and Environment" category, the Municipality of Ayia Napa was awarded for its two unique Parks, the International Sculpture Park and the MUSAN Underwater Park, at the official awarding ceremony of the Pan-Cypriot Environmental Awards 2022, which took place last Tuesday night (24 January 2023) at the Presidential Palace.
The Flags and commemorative plaques were received by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis and the Commissioner for the Environment, Ms. Clelia Vassiliou, on behalf of the Mayor, Mr. Christos Zannettos, by the Municipal Councilor and President of the Environment/Cleanliness/Green Improvement Committee, Mrs. Tasoula Tsokki Koumis.

With this award, the Municipality of Ayia Napa automatically joins the Network of Green Cities and Communities of Cyprus of the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education (CY.K.P.E.E.). The ceremony was also attended by the responsible officers of the Municipality related to the award.

The Mayor, Mr. Christos Zannettou, expressed his particular satisfaction and pleasure that the two unique cultural projects and points of reference of the Municipality were awarded with such an important award.

"We are very happy" he said "that the decisions we made as a Municipal Council as well as the effort we made to create these two parks with the aim of transforming Ayia Napa into a city of parks, monuments and points of reference that are multicultural art landmarks and contribute at the same time not only to the cultural events of our country but also to the preservation of the environment and the promotion of sustainable tourism are rewarded by the state itself"

The Mayor of Ayia Napa also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the organizers of the event for the excellent organization and to the staff of the Municipality for the efforts they make so that the Local Authority implements and achieves the goals it has set.
