In the summer and more specifically in July 2019, the marina of Ayia Napa is expected to be handed over to the investor in order to receive the first boats for mooring.

Representatives of the Media visited and were guided today in the area of the marina and as explained by the CEO of the Company "Makronisos - Marina of Ayia Napa" Stavros Karamontanis, the works are evolving steadily, following the schedule of construction, September 2016 and relate to the construction of port and infrastructure projects, to be in a very satisfactory degree of completion.

He added that the marina, which is expected to cost around 300 million euros, "will be delivered in the summer of 2019 in a working condition while at the same time the works of the residential villas of both towers continue. "Residential sales for both towers are growing rapidly and satisfactorily, which makes us very happy," he said, expressing confidence that "we will deliver to investors and the public a project that will make everyone proud and help the local economy of the province of Famagusta ".

Ayia Napa Marina is located between the beaches of Agia Thekla and Makronissos, provides for the construction of 190 luxury apartments in two impressive towers, 29 luxury villas, a marina with docking capacity and comprehensive services for 600 boats, shipyard and a number of selected restaurants. will offer high quality services and amenities to the residents and visitors of the project.

According to Mr. Karamontanis, the marina will be a point of entry into the Republic of Cyprus and there will be the necessary infrastructure, ie customs, police, immigration office, veterinary and health services. The residential part, ie the two towers with 190 luxury apartments and 29 villas, will be ready between 2020 - 2021, while the entire project is being built on an area of about 350 thousand square meters.

He added that the dredging of the basin has been completed by 100%, the southern arm has been completed around 60% while the backfilling has been completed around 95%.

Answering questions, Mr. Karamontanis said that for the dredging of the marina he arrived in Cyprus for the first time, a special machine, which is the third largest machine in the world, which completes its work in less than six months.

He also said that the arm, which is essentially the work that protects the watershed, and especially the southern arm, must be protected by large stones that do not exist in the quarries of Cyprus. This is how technical stones are made, of 18, 20 and 22 tons, which are in the shape of a star and are placed in a double layer from the bottom of the bottom of the arm and come up to the top, while for their placement, which is a time consuming process, divers work.

According to Mr. Karamontanis, at the moment there are about 250 people working in the marina, while with the beginning of the works for the construction part, where there will be an "orgasm of works", the staff will rise to 700-800 people.

He also stated that "we are in constant contact with the relevant services of the Republic while a person from the Department of Environment is at the construction site and has the responsibility to control the work of the contractor and all engineers. We are obliged to make measurements not only inside the watershed but also outside, since we are in an area that is surrounded by incredible beaches and we are interested in not creating a problem ".

There continued "a tremendous control and very good communication with the Department of the Environment in all respects. I believe that there are all the controls that we respect with respect ", he said and noted that today in the area of the project there is marine life, ie algae and fish species.

Referring to the residential part of the marina, Mr. Karamontanis said that there will be approximately in the middle of the project the commercial zone consisting of shops and restaurants which, like the marina, will be open to the whole world. Sales for the apartments in the east tower have reached about 60%, while the two towers consisting of 26 floors are 115 meters high.

The apartments and the two towers, east and west, are from one to 4 bedrooms while on the last two floors will be the penthouses. The apartments were designed in such a way that everything overlooks either the sea or the marina, or both.

An artificial island will be built in the marina basin on which 12 villas will be built and their buyer will have the right to buy the mooring position. On the west side of the marina, 11 villas will be built on the beach that will face the West, while another six will have a view of the basin.

He also explained that the villas are built on land that reaches 700 square meters and their price starts from 4 and a half million euros and more. Both the apartments and the villas will be sold under the rental regime for 125 years with the right of renewal.

As for the buyers, Mr. Karamontanis said that two villas have been sold so far, adding that there is enough interest and noted that 30% of the interested buyers are Cypriots and the remaining 70% are foreigners from Russia, Egypt, Lebanon and Sweden.

He added that the boats that will be hosted in the marina of Ayia Napa will start from 10 and will reach up to 75 meters. The marina will have a capacity of 400 boats outside while another 200 boats will be accommodated in closed berths.
