Over 4000 children at the international Academies Football Tournament in Ayia Napa

Between April 8-13, the international Academies Football Tournament is held in Ayia Napa this year.

One month separates us from the biggest academies tournament of the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East.

The oldest domestic institution in the field of football academies returns again this year 8-13 April, promising exciting matches, many goals and of course unforgettable experiences for all participants. In this year's event (Ayia Napa Youth Soccer Festival), which has been held continuously since 2001, children born between 2006 and 2017 will take part, coming from every corner of free Cyprus and abroad.

The event is hosted, as always, at the sports center of the Municipality of Agia Napa, which includes 15 football fields with natural turf, being the most ideal choice for an event of this size and type.

The registrations have been completed with the participation of the groups increasing to approximately 350 and the number of children exceeding 4000, a fact which proves the long-term support received by the event which traditionally starts with the closing of the schools at Easter and ends accordingly of participation on Holy Wednesday and Thursday with the solemn closing ceremony and the final matches.

The interest from abroad is particularly high again, since around 40 different age groups from England, Poland, Denmark, Seychelles, Lebanon and Jordan have already declared their participation.

With the completion of the registrations, the preliminary work of organizing the competitive structure of the tournament has begun with the drawing of the groups separately for each age group to take place next Saturday, March 11. The full competition schedule will be announced around the end of March. It is expected that the total number of matches will exceed 1000.

"The event has now been established and is developing into one of the largest and most qualitative football tournaments of its kind in Europe, always relating the number of participations to the size and population of Cyprus.

The enormous importance we give to the organizational structure of the organization with continuous upgrading of the website and platform of the organization and placing particular emphasis on technology and the electronic registration of teams and children, the automatic registration of results and the direct access of information and information to the teams and the parents, helped the most in the development and evolution of the tournament.

In the competitive field, the separation of the teams in the group stage according to the level into two different categories, together with the huge innovation of qualifying all teams to the next stage and the formation of three levels of knock out competitions (eagles, lions, tigers), has helped the maximum in conducting more and more balanced and fair competitions for children, increasing their interest and at the same time providing them with more joy and fun through their participation, thus realizing the main goal of the organization.
