The "relationship" between Ayia Napa and Britain in tourism continues - What they said at the meeting

The continuation of the cooperation between Ayia Napa and the United Kingdom was agreed by the Mayor Christos Zannettou and the acting High Commissioner of Britain Ben Rawlings.

A written statement from the City of Ayia Napa states that "in the context of the expansion of the municipality's cooperation with the High Commission of Great Britain, Mayor Christos Zannettou recently welcomed, for the second time in three months, the acting High Commissioner, Ben Rawlings" .

It added that "the focus of the discussion was on the latest developments in tourism, especially with regard to the arrival of young people from the United Kingdom, where it was found that a significant number of young British tourists are returning to Ayia Napa. "Extensive reference was also made to the health situation prevailing in Great Britain and Cyprus, with the cases of the coronavirus".

Mr Rawlings "informed the Mayor of Ayia Napa of the significant reduction in cases in the United Kingdom, which gives optimism that there will be increased demand in the tourism industry in the near future. During the meeting, security issues were also discussed with Christos Zannettou informing about the actions of the Municipality regarding the additional policing in the Municipality ".

The High Commissioner expressed his satisfaction with this fact, as he said "it will do its utmost to make Ayia Napa a safer place for British tourists", noting at the same time that the UNHCR places special emphasis on the safety of its citizens. of ".

According to the announcement, "Ben Rawlings expressed his satisfaction with the recent creation of the Underwater Sculpture Museum" MUSAN "by the famous British artist Jason deCaires Taylor. The Museum is a great example that Ayia Napa is constantly developing and upgrading, offering quality of life and experiences to both its citizens and visitors.

Mr Zannett and Mr Rawlings agreed to continue co-operation between Ayia Napa and the United Kingdom High Commission in Cyprus, "as they share common issues" for the benefit of both sides.

It is noted that the meeting was also attended by the acting Deputy High Commissioner Sam Adamson.
