The 38th Ayia Napa International Festival starts today

The Ayia Napa International Festival begins today, one of the oldest festivals and one of the leading artistic events in our country, which is in its 38th year this year and promises through the remarkable artistic program that has been carefully prepared by the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the rich range of exhibitions and activities that showcase the manners, customs and traditions of our country, to give visitors unforgettable and unrepeatable moments but also to honor World Tourism Day which is celebrated every year on September 27.

The Festival begins today, Thursday, September 22 in the Central Square with the pre-festival Volunteering event by the AGO Famagusta and children of Ayia Napa Primary School groups, which takes place within the framework of the #BEACTIVE European Sports Week and will last until Sunday, September 25, 2022. while its official opening will take place on Saturday, September 24 at 8:00 p.m. by the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry Mrs. Natasa Pileidou.

This year's program stands out for the two big concerts "What shall we say now" with Eleonora Zouganelis (Saturday 24/09, 9:15pm) and "Night for singing" with Glykeria, the tenor Andreas Aroditis, Giorgos Ioannou, the Vocal Ensemble Diasiasi and Dance Group "Dionysos" (Sunday 25/09, 9:00pm) as well as the great tribute to Asia Minor "What to remember and what to forget" with the Cypriot singers Niki Antoniou Karaiskou, Athena Lianou , Maria Vardaki, Eleni Mavroudi, who will be accompanied by the 8-member Orchestra of the "Orfeas" Music Scheme (Friday 23/09, 9:00 p.m.).

Also noteworthy are the music and dance performances "On the Single Paths of Tradition" by the "Kimon" Dance Ensembles of Xylotympos and the Municipality of Agia Napa, Michalis Hadjimichael, Dimitra Hadjimichael, Savva Stefanou and Nikola Kremasto (23/09, 8:00pm), "Night Serenade" with Andrea Nikolaou, Giorgos Hatzigeorgiou - Violin, Eugenia Karapataki - Cello and Andrea Keliri - Viola (Saturday 24/09, 8:30pm), "Cosmos" from the Dance School "Passion Dance" (Sunday 25 /09, 8:30pm). It should be noted that the "Kimo" Dance Ensembles of Xylotympos and the Municipality of Agia Napa will also present Island Traditional Dances (Thursday, 22/09, 7:30pm).

In addition to the artistic part, important and interesting are the exhibitions, which come from the whole range of visual arts as well as an exhibition of agricultural products and flowers of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment and the exhibition of the Department of Forests on the theme "Flora, Fauna and Environment of Cyprus", a photo exhibition of the Municipality of Ayia Napa with the theme "Ayia Napa of yesterday and today", etc.

The Folklore Museum - "Agrotospito" will also function as an exhibition space, in the courtyard of which there will be demonstrations of various household agricultural and agricultural occupations such as the preparation of zivania, halloumi, macaroni, pastos, bread and palouze and demonstrations of traditional arts such as wood carving will be presented , silversmithing, carding, silk-making, leatherwork, basket-weaving, pottery and more.

The children and not only will have the opportunity to enjoy all three nights (23-25/09,7, 30:8pm-00:XNUMXpm) Karagiozi performances with the well-known folk artist Christos Pafios.
