A pandemic gathering took place yesterday in Deryneia, during which the report of the Mayor and the Municipal Council for the 10 years 2011 - 2021 was made.
The event, which took place at the Municipal Amphitheater of Deryneia, was broadcast online.
According to an announcement by the Municipality, in the report of the work of the Municipal Council, the Mayor of Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis, referred to the projects that have been done and are being launched, such as the creation of an Alternative Activities Park, the operation of the Open Air Museum of Traditional Professions, the completion of the Center upgrading of the Commercial Center of the Self-Housing Settlement of Deryneia.
Reference was also made to the efforts made by the local authority to secure European funds for the renovation of the Public Market, the creation of a Culture Hall / Conference Center and the upgrading of the Central Square of Agios Modestos - Panagia.
Regarding the urban planning projects, the citizens were informed about the improvement - asphalting of the road network and about the expected start of the urban planning project of Stadiou Street that connects the two Municipalities of Deryneia and Sotira.
Special mention was made of the efforts made by the local authority to retain the young couples in the Municipality through the housing plan for the remote areas, the stay and resettlement of citizens in the strategically important area of Strovilia Deryneia, as well as the delay observed in its publication Deryneia - Paralimni - Ayia Napa Local Plan.
The issues of farmer activity in the dead zone, as well as the promotion of cultural activities within the dead zone through the Garage Bicommunal Center, actions for youth and the elderly, social policy, culture and the integration of community and nationals third countries in the remote municipality of Deryneia were also reported.
An analysis was made of the financial situation of the Municipality and a report on the Local Government Reform, while the citizens had the opportunity to ask their questions and suggestions to the Mayor and the members of the Municipal Council, the announcement concludes.
