Deryneia Roadblock: How they commented on the episodes in the occupied areas

The leader of the National Unity Party, Ersin Tatar, condemned the actions of a "group of fanatical Greek Cypriots" at the Deryneia roadblock, as well as President Anastasiadis, arguing that the opening of Varos was for the good of humanity.

He called on the Greek Cypriot side and the people with "common sense" to help prevent such actions. He said the protest was not about peace but about escalating tensions.

Noting that Varosha has been opened for the good of humanity, he said that the owners of the city before 1974 can apply to the "Real Estate Commission" and if they are entitled, the property will be returned to them or they will be offered exchange and compensation. He added that this is what the European Court of Human Rights wants from the Turkish side.

Mr. Tatar also said that they will continue step by step the opening of Varosia according to the roadmap for Varosia and the city will no longer be a ghost town. He also said that about 300 applications have already been made to the "Real Estate Committee" for Varosia and will be processed.

A statement from the "Foreign Ministry" stated that "it is unacceptable for members of nationalist and chauvinist organizations to enter the neutral zone and create incidents."

At the same time, the "ministry" claims that "fascist organizations" call on Greek Cypriots to participate in similar events with the participation of groups of motorcyclists on October 13 and 17 in Nicosia and Deryneia, respectively. It is also reported that UNFICYP was asked to take the necessary measures to prevent such events and called on the Greek Cypriot side to take appropriate measures as a "sign of good intentions".
