A contract was signed today in the Municipality of Deryneia for asphalt paving of the road network damaged by the works of the sewerage system.
As the Mayor of Deryneia Andros Karagiannis stated in KYPE, today a contract was signed between the Municipality of Deryneia and the Company Cyfield Development Public Ltd for the execution of the asphalt phase of the road network in Deryneia after the completion of the sewerage works.
He added that the works, which will cost about half a million euros, will begin and be completed, if the weather conditions allow, within the first half of 1 ".
He also said that in August 2017 the Municipality of Deryneia received from the company that did the sewerage project, the road network within its Municipal boundaries.
"Because the roads we received during the various phases of the sewer system were in a very bad condition, the Municipal Council decided that no road repairs would be made until we receive the complete sewer system."
With the receipt of the road network last August, he continued "we quickly proceeded with the bidding process for the asphalting of the roads that were damaged by the machines used for the sewerage. The Municipal Council emphasized the roads that need further asphalting, especially in the western area of Deryneia ".
According to Mr. Karagiannis, "there are roads such as Omonia and Kalypsia Streets that bother the citizens the most and need immediate repair, while then the repair of other roads will follow, depending on the situation in which they are".
He also stated that "the government has offered the Municipality an amount of 176 thousand euros for this project, money which will be given by Deryneia and will then be given to us by the Ministry of Interior. We will also use the fund of 250 thousand euros offered two years ago to our Municipality by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis ".
Andros Karagiannis also said that "the remaining amount, from the half a million euros that the project will cost, will be covered by the budget of the Municipality of Deryneia".
He added that "we understand that there is discomfort in our world for the bad condition of the road network. We ask for the understanding of the people and we hope that the asphalt paving works will be completed by the first half of this year ".
