Famagusta District: 449 checks on citizens and premises by the Police

In the last 24 hours (from 06.00 on Friday until 06.00 today), 2.835 inspections were carried out by the Police throughout Cyprus, in order to verify the observance of the measures and the implementation of the decrees of the Law on Infection Cleaning.

As a representative of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters stated to KYPE, during the inspections, 23 complaints were made by citizens and 8 people in charge of the premises.

Regarding the inspections by province, 1.030 inspections were carried out in Nicosia, out of which 6 complaints were made by citizens and 2 premises, in Limassol 225 inspections were carried out, out of which 8 complaints were made by citizens, in Larnaca 503 inspections were carried out, out of which 1 complaint resulted 2 inspections were carried out in Paphos, out of which 413 complaints were lodged, in Famagusta 4 inspections were carried out, out of which 449 complaints were made by citizens, in the Morfos area 8 inspections were carried out, without any complaints.

Also, the Pancyprian Traffic Police carried out 111 inspections, without any complaints.

Of the 2.835 inspections, 20 concerned the Port and Maritime Police, from which no complaint emerged.

Answering a question, the representative of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters said that the majority of the complaints to citizens concerned the non-use of a protective mask.

Regarding the premises, in Nicosia, in one premises it was found from an inspection that employees were serving without wearing a protective mask, resulting in a fine of € 4.000 and in the other premises it was found from control that the guests were dancing and he was also fined € 4.000 .

In Larnaca, one establishment was found to be serving customers at a bar, resulting in a € 4.000 fine, and another was found to be checking to serve customers at a bar and dancers were dancing, and was also fined € 4.000.

In Paphos, one premises from an inspection showed that they did not wear protective masks, resulting in a fine of € 750, in a second premises, an employee was without safepass and an employee without a mask, and was fined € 500.

At a third establishment in Paphos, an inspection showed that an employee was not wearing a mask properly, there was harassment, he was without permits and a fourth establishment showed an inspection, among other things, that it was crowded, customers were dancing and the closing limit was violated. These two premises will be taken to court.
