In his statements to "K", the Director of Pediatrics of Makareio Hospital Dr. Abraham Elias said the virus had been in the background in recent years due to restrictive measures against the pandemic, but has been re-emerging since the summer.

According to Dr. Elias, the virus is contagious and mainly affects infants and toddlers, causing bad symptoms such as shortness of breath, fever, cough and anorexia, while afflicting children for several days. It is noted that RSV mortality is below 1% and is treated with inhaled drugs.

Three children with respiratory syncytial virus are currently being treated at Makareio Hospital, with their health condition being out of danger.

Parents, according to Dr. Elias, are asked to contact the pediatrician immediately if their child presents with the above symptoms and to avoid sending their children to nurseries and nurseries to avoid transmission of the virus.
