In a pleasant atmosphere, cycling took place on Saturday in the Municipality of Paralimni, in the presence and under the auspices of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Giannis Karousou, in collaboration with the Paralimni High School and the Agios Christoforos Offer and Love Center, Paralimni (KEPA).

The event was an initiative of Paralimni High School and KEPA, in the context of actions carried out to encourage the socialization of students after the difficult period due to the restrictive measures implemented to manage the pandemic.

Speaking at the beginning of the route, Giannis Karousos welcomed the organization of this event which, among other things, promotes the use of bicycles as a safe and reliable option for the movement of citizens. According to the Minister, the Government recognizes the value of integrating the bicycle into the daily lives of citizens as an alternative means of transportation and healthy entertainment, and to this end, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works is expanding and improving cycling infrastructure. Specifically, said Giannis Karousos, in the free Province of Famagusta, bike lanes with a total length of 54.9 km have been created and, at the same time, the creation of an additional 19 km is underway.

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works congratulated the Teachers and the Parents Association of Paralimni High School, as well as the Mayors of Paralimni and Ayia Napa for organizing the event, which gave the opportunity to the students and other participants to get to know the benefits and spend their time happily. He also thanked the members of KEPA Paralimni for their work and contribution to the local community. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the needs of the students of Paralimni High School.
