Church, state and the families of the heroically fallen and our brothers who were in any way apostates during the coup d'etat and the Turkish invasion of 1974, Paralimni, honored their memory today Sunday, July 19, 2020 in Paralimni.
During the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios, the Most Venerable Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Mr. Vassilios, stood out, accompanied by pastors and deacons of the church and the Metropolis. A prayer was also offered in favor of finding the missing Paralimnites.
The Government was represented by the Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Costas Kadis.
The commemorative speech was delivered by Mr. Adamos Markou, Assistant Director of Secondary Education.
The families of the deceased and heroically fallen, Messrs. Theodoros Pyrillis, Mayor of Paralimni, Takis Pelekanos, former Minister, the deputies of Famagusta, Georgios Georgiou, Zacharias Koulias, Asphalos Georgios, Michalis Giorgos O Michalis Petrou Infantry Brigade, Famagusta Fire Brigade Lieutenant Christakis Papanikoli, Throne Commissioners, members of Committees of the Holy Metropolis and many people.
This was followed by a trishagio and the laying of wreaths at the Monument of the Fallen and Missing in the Municipality of Paralimni, which is located near the church.
