Another former missing person of the Turkish invasion was buried today in Sotira with due honors. This is the Dean, Adamos Adamou, whose fate has been unknown since August 1974.
The 19-year-old dean of the 70th Battalion of Engineer Adamos Adamou (Englezou) was taken to his last residence today, forty-five years late.
The hero has been missing since August 6, 1974, when he was last seen by his comrades-in-arms after an ambush by Turkish invaders on the beach of Airkotissa.
The funeral procession was performed by the Holy Temple of the Resurrection in Sotira.
The Government was represented by the Minister of Education, Costas Hambiaouris, who delivered a commemorative speech. The Mayor Sotiras, Georgios Takkas, comrades-in-arms and relatives of the hero also delivered a memorial service.
The funeral procession was performed by the head of the Protosyggelos of the Holy Metropolis of Constantia-Famagusta, Archimandrite Augustinos Kkaras.
