The first event of this year's Famagusta carnival was crowned with great success, the Tsiknopemti event where this year's King, Dimitris "Pepe" Tsierkezos, received the scepter from last year's queen Christiana Siopaha.

The event started in the afternoon, with organized ensembles that lit the torches and started the "tsiknisma". The baking was undertaken by the Technical School of Vocational Education and Training of Paralimni, the Nautical Club of Constantia, the Association of Free Greeks of Famagusta, the "Exedra" Union, the Choir of the Municipality of Paralimni "Melizona" which prepared the sweet dishes, fish pies and purees as well as the Union Neo Paralimniou.

This year's King, who impressed with his presence, received the scepter of the Famagusta Carnival for 2024, giving the impetus for this year's events.
