Annual inflation reached 1,1% in December in the Eurozone, from 0,6% in November, while the corresponding percentage in Cyprus was 0,1%, from -0,8% in November, according to Eurostat.
In December 2015, the percentage was 0,2% in the Eurozone and -0,6% in Cyprus. In the European Union of 28, annual inflation was 1,2% in December 2016 from 0,6% in November. A year ago the percentage was 0,2%. In December 2016, negative inflation was recorded in Bulgaria (-0,5%) and Romania (-0,1%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Estonia (2,4%), Belgium (2,2%), the Czech Republic and Latvia (up 2,1%).
Compared to November 2016, annual inflation decreased in one Member State and increased to twenty-six. The largest increase in annual inflation in the euro area came from transport fuels (0,21 percentage points), vegetables (0,07 percentage points) and heating oil (0,05), while natural gas (-0,10), telecommunications (-0,05) and personal care products (-0,04) had the largest negative impact.
