A new strike of inspectors paralyzes the airports from 12 to 4 in the afternoon

Immovable from the positions they had a month ago, remain Air Traffic Controllers and the Ministry of Communications, while today is the second date for which the Auditors announced a four-hour work stoppage, from 12.00 noon to 4.00 pm…

According to Hermes, the strike today will affect 36 flights at both international airports in Cyprus, ie 18 arrivals and 18 departures. Of these, 22 concern the Larnaca International Airport and the remaining 14 concern the Paphos International Airport ". The affected airlines, which have been aware of the measures for days, have rescheduled flights to other times.

Meanwhile, yesterday, the Pancyprian Union of Air Traffic Controllers (PASEEK) in a statement indicates that "while we have so far submitted three alternative proposals with significant concessions on our part, with the sole aim of finding room for dialogue, the ministry remains unmoved in the positions he had months ago, as if he himself was seeking the strike ".

It is clear that the Ministry of Communications and Works is pushing the situation to the extreme, according to the auditors, stressing that the ministry is even ignoring the suggestions of the European mediator Joe Sultana, who called him from Eurocontrol.

The auditors expressed their willingness at the suggestion of the Eurocontrol representative to continue the negotiations, "but the ministry chose to escalate the controversy instead of calling on him to return in order to find a solution", they underline. This leaves no choice but to continue the strike measures and the responsibility lies solely with the Ministry of Communications and Works, the announcement concludes.

According to the representative of HermesAirports, Adamos Aspris, if the announced strike measures of the four-hour work stoppages take place today, Monday 12 March and Thursday 15 March, a total of ten thousand passengers and 80 flights to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports will be affected. .
